Our Conquerer

Inasmuch as Jesus has gone before us, things are not as they would have been if He had never passed that way. He has conquered every foe that obstructed the way. Cheer up now, you faint-hearted warrior. Not only has Christ traveled the road, but He has defeated your enemies. Do you dread sin? He has nailed it to His cross. Do you fear death? He has been the death of Death. Are you afraid of hell? He has barred it against the advent of any of His children; they shall never see the gulf of perdition. Whatever foes may be before the Christian, they are all overcome. There are lions, but their teeth are broken; there are serpents, but their fangs are extracted; there are rivers, but they are bridged or fordable; there are flames, but we wear that matchless garment that renders us invulnerable to fire. The sword that has been forged against us is already blunt; the instruments of war that the enemy is preparing have already lost their point. God has taken away in the person of Christ all the power that anything can have to hurt us. Well then, the army may march safely on, and you may go joyously along your journey, for all your enemies are already conquered. What will you do but march on to take the prey? They are beaten, they are vanquished; all you have to do is share the plunder. You shall, it is true, often engage in combat, but your fight will be with a defeated foe. His head is broken; he may attempt to injure you, but his strength will not be sufficient for his malicious design. Your victory shall be easy, and your treasure shall be beyond all measure.

Proclaim aloud the Savior's fame,
Who hears the Breaker's wond'rous name;
Sweet name; and it becomes him well,
Who breaks down earth, sin, death, and hell.

Stand Firm

"Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. . . the Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."          Exodus 14:13-14

These words contain God's command to the believer when he is reduced to great straits and brought into extraordinary difficulties.  He cannot retreat; he cannot go forward; he is shut up on the right hand and on the left; what is he now to do?  The Master's word to him is, "Stand firm."  It will be well for him if at such times he listens only to his Master's word, for other and evil advisers come with their suggestions.  Despair whispers, "Lie down and die; give it all up."  But God would have us put on a cheerful courage and even in our worst times rejoice in His love and faithfulness.  Cowardice says, "Retreat; go back to the worldling's way of action; you cannot play the Christian's part - it is too difficult.  Relinquish your principles."  But however much Satan may urge this course upon you, you cannot follow it if you are a child of God.  His divine decree has bid you go from strength to strength, and so you shall, and neither death nor hell shall turn you from your course.  Even if you are called to stand firm for a while, this is in order to renew your strength for some greater advance in due time.  Precipitancy cries, "Do something. Stir yourself; to stand still and wait is sheer idleness."  We must be doing something at once - we must do it, so we think - instead of looking to the Lord, who will not only do something but will do everything.  Presumption boasts, "If the sea is before you, march into it and expect a miracle."  But faith listens neither to presumption, nor to despair, nor to cowardice nor to precipitancy, but it hears God say,
"Stand firm" - keep the posture of an upright man, ready for action, expecting further orders, cheerfully and patiently awaiting the directing voice; and it will not be long before God shall say to you, as distinctly as Moses said it to the people of Israel, "Go forward."

God is SOOOOOOOO Good!

I just want to thank each one who prayed for Ava and for our family during this time. Your prayers have been answered, PRAISE GOD!! He is so good. At our lowest Chris and I were praying for a mountain top for ourselves. If anyone needs a mountain top it's Ava. Thank you God for giving her a mountain top!! She has never rested so peacefully as she does now. NO SEIZURES. We appreciate her so much more now. I never thought I could love her more than I do. She has taught me so much in her young life. God has used her in an amazing way in her young life. I can not wait to see what he has for her in the future. I used to ask why God chose me? Why he thought I was strong enough? Why he thought I could handle her when the medications had her so wild in the middle of the night? Through this I have learned that Ava's condition is not a burden at all it is a blessing!! God used Ava to teach all of us a lesson. He taught us the power of prayer, that He is still in the business of performing miracles. Ava is a miracle!!! They told us it could take up to a year for her to get her strength back on her left side. She is already running. Not to mention they took over 10% of her brain yet she shows no signs of any sort of mental delay. God is so faithful!! He deserves all the honor and praise for her rapid recovery!!! Thank you Jesus!!! My prayer for her is that one day she will proclaim Jesus as her savior and realize what he has done for her. She will always have Tuberous Sclerosis but it certainly does not have her.

I love you,
Catherine

July Fellowship

We had great fun, food, and fellowship at our July get together!  Kevin, Melissa, Marcus, and Meghan were very hospitable by opening up their land and home to us.  Several fished, fired guns in a skeet-shoot, played volleyball, and played games.  The kids had fun on the water slide and some rode horses.  The night ended with a display of fireworks.

A Trustworthy Saying

"But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous thing we had done, but because of his mercy.  He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal b the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life."

"They were the potters who . . . stayed there and worked for the king."     1 Chronicles 4:23

Potters were among the ranks of manual workers, but the king needed potters, and therefore they were elevated to royal service, although the material upon which they worked was nothing but clay.  In the same way we also may be engaged in the most menial part of the Lord's work, but it is a great privilege to do anything for the King; and therefore we will play our part, hoping that, although we live among the pots, we will soar in the service of our Master.  These people dwelt among plants and hedges and had rough, rustic hedging and ditching work to do.  They may have wanted to live in the city, amid its life, society, and refinement, but they kept their assigned places because they were doing the king's work.  There is no ideal place for us to serve God except the place He sets us down.  We are not to run from it on a whim or sudden notion, but we should serve the Lord in it by being a blessing to those among whom we live.  These potters and gardeners had royal company, for they lived with the king, and although among hedges and plants, they lived with the king there.  No lawful place or gracious occupation, however menial, can keep us from communion with our Lord.  In hovels, run-down neighborhoods, and jails, we may keep company with the King.  In all works of faith we can county upon Jesus' fellowship.  It is when we are in His work that we may reckon on His smile.  You unknown workers who are serving the Lord amid the dirt and wretchedness of the lowest of the low, be of good cheer, for jewels have often been found among rubbish, earthen pots have been filled with heavenly treasure, and ugly weeds have been transformed into precious flowers.  Dwell with the King and do His work, and when He writes His chronicles, your name shall be recorded.

Learn the Divine Skill of Making God All Things to You

Here's something to consider . . .

"God, our God, shall bless us."  - Psalm 67:6

It is strange how little use we make of the spiritual blessings that God gives us, but it is even stranger that we make such little use of God Himself.  Though He is "our God," we scarcely give ourselves to Him, and we ask so little of Him.  How seldom do we seek counsel at the hands of the Lord!  How often do we go about our business without seeking His guidance!  In our troubles how we constantly struggle to bear our burdens ourselves instead of casting them upon the Lord, that He may sustain us!  This is not because we may not, for the Lord seems to say, "I am yours, soul; come and make use of Me as you will.  You may freely come to My store, and the more you come, the more welcome you will be."  It is our own fault if we do not enjoy the riches of our God.  Since you have such a friend, and He invites you, draw from Him daily,  Never be wanting while you have a God to go to; never fear or faint while you have God to help you; go to your treasure and take whatever you need -  there is  all that you can ever want.  Learn the divine skill of making God all things to you.  He can supply you with everything; or better still, He can be everything to you.. Let me urge you, then, to make use of your God.  Make use of Him in prayer.  Go to Him often, because He is your God.  Will you fail to use such a great privilege?  Run to Him; tell Him all your needs.  Use Him constantly by faith at all times.  If some dark providence has cast a shadow on you, use God as a sun; if some strong enemy has attacked you, find in Jehovah a shield, for He is a sun and shield to His people.  If you have lost your way in the mazes of life, use him as a guide, for He will direct you.  Whatever you are, and wherever you are, remember, God is just what you want and just where you want, and that He can do everything you want.
